 Green Route & Profile

Detail description:

After attaching your permit you will head away from the Hemel en Aarde Village onto the R320 towards Caledon. Within 200m, just past Whalehaven Cellar, you will see the single track to your left and that will lead you past the armco barrier (for those who are not comfortable with this section you can continue on the R320 till after the armco barrier where you will join the single track again – the same apply with your return).

You are now on our newly created double single track all along the Onrus River. Keep to the left and don’t worry, there are ample places to pass or be passed!

Enjoy the scenery and the lovely flowing river leading your way up the valley. After crossing the river over a wooden bridge keep left and soon you will find the only notable obstacle on your route. It’s a little incline of about 30m, which should be your challenge for next time. Otherwise give your bike a push (sometimes they need a rest as well!), and then head of following the green arrows. You are now on the highest point of your route and all is downhill from here.

After passing the Quad bikes and Zip lines you will find an arrow to cross the gravel Camphill road – look out for the cars before crossing. You have now split away from the other routes and hopefully you will be joining them soon.

Once you’ve crossed the Camphill road you will enter the single tracks that will take you back home. These trails wind its way through the shrubs and trees all along the embankment of the Onrus River.

This trail is a must if you want to learn the basics of single track riding. It is simple, flowing and as exciting as you make it. The surface is not rocky and thus ideal for beginners and youngsters.

Have fun and enjoy your ride!
